SUMMARY:A Compassionate Response to COVID-19
DESCRIPTION:The Trinitarians in Assam were very keen to attend to the needs of the time due to the pandemic Covid – 19. The people in Assam especially those who reside in remote villages were badly affected due to the unexpected imposition of lockdown. The people are isolated\, dreams are shattered\, public worships and community gatherings are restricted\, markets and social lives are disrupted\, and it was in this context that the Trinitarians in Assam ventured in to a new mission expedition. \nThe friars willingly went to the villages to distribute adequate aid to the needful. We went to five villages mainly Mazdia\, Lingurkatta\, Saphkatta\, Dhumuria and Tarani. We provided both for their physical nourishment and mental growth. We distributed around 80 packets for the neediest people. The packets were contained of 5 kg rice\, 1 kg dal\, 1 liter oil\, 1 kg salt\, 1 kg potato\, biscuit\, sugar etc. We catered to the needs of the people of grass root level\, going to the interior villages and supplying the food packets irrespective of caste\, colour\, religion etc. Many people came here to our campus to receive the food packets. We did it for a week. \nThe important instructions also were given to the people in order to stay home and stay safe. We informed about the significance of taking safety measures in order to prevent this disastrous and dreadful virus. We instructed them about the frequent washing of hands\, wearing mask\, and keeping social distance. We also spared our time to listen to the sorrows of the people as they undergo a hard time due to the lack of work\, and money. We gave them useful tips to spend these lockdown days fruitfully and effectively. \nThe people were welcoming and were open to receive the little mite. It was a really an immense help for the people during the nationwide lockdown to curb the spread of Corona virus pandemic. The police officials and the army men were also supportive of us to confer necessary permissions to move around without any interruption. It was really a great time for us to get to know the difficulty of the people and to lend the supportive hand for them.

SUMMARY: The Covid-19 – A Trinitarian  Social Response
DESCRIPTION:Rising to the occasion amidst challenging times has been always a special call of the Trinitarians and we can’t fail in this time too. As the world remains helpless in front of this unseen enemy\, there are many people whose lives may not matter for the majority. Those are the low income families and families of migrants. \nThe Trinitarians of Bangalore made some remarkable efforts to do the best we could by reaching out to the needy\, as per the instructions of our Redeemer the Risen Lord. \nFirst on the list was to reach out and get informed what we can do in this situation. After certain deliberations\, we decided to outsource from our limited resources and make a few people smile. \nWe purchased food materials from wholesale market and made foot kits ( each weighed upto 10-12 kilos worth Rs 1000 each.  The initial purpose was to make 15 bags of food but later changed in to 25 bags. The distribution was done with the help of some volunteers from IMHC parish Kalena Agrahara\,  Bangalore. \nSecondly  the plan emerged was to collaborate with the Jesuits of Karnataka province\, Mount St Joseph. Our Brothers were the main in line to do packing of thousands of bags which would go to those in financial distress and poverty. \nSo far our brothers have  made  1546 bags of food grains each  containing  25-30 kilos  materials. We have offered 120 hours of voluntary labor and supervision in making the bags with the Mount St Joseph\, Jesuits in Loyola High School building. And the need and our passion for continuing this mission stand strong. \nWe are planning one more shop and purchase of food materials from our community resources and provide for the needy in our neighboring areas of Bangalore. We would welcome anyone who likes to join hands for providing help for the neediest ones around us. Ideas and resources are welcome.
