SUMMARY:THE TRINITARIAN REDEMPTIVE MISSION: A SOCIAL RESPONSE TO THE FLOOD IN KERALA 2018
DESCRIPTION:Kerala was affected by unusual heavy rain falls and floods from the beginning of July. According to the reports\, over 483 people died and a million people were evacuated. All the 14 districts of the state were placed on red alert. The Kerala government has disclosed that one-sixth of the total population of Kerala had been directly affected by the floods and related incidents. The Indian Government had declared it a Level 3 Calamity or “calamity of a severe nature.” Heavy rains caused severe landslides in the hilly districts and a lot of damages were done to the road. The flooding has affected hundreds of villages\, thousands of homes and roads too. \nThe Trinitarians rose to the occasion and extended their support to the victims in various ways. The initiates were steered by the Mission Development Office of the St. Michael of the Saints Vice-Province in the USA headed by Rev. Fr. Santhosh Kozippadan\, O.SS.T.\, and our friars in Italy (Frs. Simine\, Jolly and Sibi) so also Fr. Janil Chakkiath\, O.SS.T.\, in Cannada. Our communities in India worked together to coordinate the ministries to the victims of flood. Our brothers in Bangalore went from door to door to raise funds to support the victims of flood. The activities are animated by Rev. Fr. Meby Kallungal\, O.SS.T. We remember everyone who have been instrumental in carrying out this noble work and remain grateful to our Minister Vice-Provincial Rev. Fr. Joseph Muthuplackal\, O.SS.T.\, who has been of immense support to reach out to these places. \nThe following are a few activities that have been done to help the victims of flooding:

SUMMARY:DMLP School\, Pottuchira\, Thrissur
DESCRIPTION:This is a school where there are 40 students and it’s run by a Muslim management. It has been functioning for the past 72 years. They have a permanent teacher and other teachers are paid on a daily wage basis. During the flooding\, they lost their shelves\, chairs\, school bags\, books\, teaching materials\, cooking utensils etc. The management was unwilling to help and it was brought to our notice and with the help of Rev. Fr. Jins\, the Minister of our House in Thrissur we bought all the necessary materials. Three of our friars personally visited the place\, bought the materials and supplied the things. The pictures of the condition of the school during the flooding and distribution of the materials are given below: \n \n \n \n \n

SUMMARY:Divine Retreat Centre\, Chalakudy
DESCRIPTION:The Trinitarians also expressed their solidarity and support to the Divine Retreat Centre which was severely affected during the flooding. Fr. Jaison Kullampally\, O.SS.T.\, & Fr. Sunil Thoppiltharayil\, O.SS.T.\,  and the members of the prayer team that works in collaboration with De Matha Spiritual Centre spent half a day to clean the centre.

DESCRIPTION:They are from Aratupuzha\, which is in the district of Thrissur. This is a Hindu family. This place was very badly affected by the flood. They lost their utensils and the Trinitarians reached to them through Fr. Jaison Kullampally\, O.SS.T.\, and provided them the necessary things.

SUMMARY:Mr. Paulose Ouseph\, Meloor
DESCRIPTION:This is a family from St. Thomas Church\, Santhipuram in the archdiocese of Eranakulam-Angamaly. Their electrification was damaged due to the flooding and were not able to repair it. They were introduced by Fr. Sibi Puthussery\, O.SS.T.\, and we helped them for the electrification of the house. The family remains grateful to the help that is rendered to them.

SUMMARY:St. Mary's Forane Church\, Chalakudy
DESCRIPTION:An initiative of the Trinitarian Novices and Postulants under the leadership of Frs. Binoj and Meby. Trinitarian Redemptive Mission extends its helping hand to the families affected by Natural Calamities. A team of four brothers under the leadership of Fr. Meby have reached St. Mary’S Church Challakudy which is under the diocese of Irinjalakuda. Our initial effort is to reach out 32 to 50 families who are living in a slum which is just behind St. Mary’s Church. We have our deacon Diljo Achandy doing pastoral ministry there. Our team has carried food materials\, clothes and sanitary supplies. They are distributing the necessary items to the affected people.
